Many people including myself will start a project and almost feel defeated even before they get the first step done. In my own experience, I have felt that getting to the end of the project might be impossible because there are so many things to get done before reaching the end. Have you ever felt that way?
I find this interesting because we have come a long way in our lives by doing one thing at a time…little by little…step by step. When we were babies we learned to walk by taking just one step, then two, then three and so on. Doesn’t it sound so simple when you minimize it to this?
One of the celebrities that I have always looked up to is Will Smith. One of the stories he uses as an example to get you through this exact dilemma is about building a wall. In an interview Will Smith said , “You don’t try to build a wall. You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say, I’m going to build the biggest…baddest…greatest wall that’s ever been built. You don’t start there. You say, I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid. There will not be one brick on the face of the earth that is going to be laid better than this brick that I’m going to lay in this next ten minutes…and you do that every single day and soon you have a wall.”
If you ever find yourself in a bind and need some motivation, I would highly recommend listening to or watching Will Smith speak.
Here’s a great video that will get you motivated for sure.
